The first crawl :)

It was our first crawl towards the long journey we all wish to travel :-) Our first mini project, which we acheived by visiting the ngo Ashalay @ kharghar. This ngo works for a lot of causes but the one we visited was for li'l children.

As per our first effort towards the because we care set up ,we all have started contributing some amount to our monthly fund which we would use for such kind of activities. For the month of Feb we collected at around 7k and decided to visit this ngo as a start up task for our group. We got in contact with this NGO, found out of the things they really need and suggested that we would like to contribute in Kind instead of just donating money. The NGO gave us a list of things, they would like us to help them with. So basically these were food items, toileteries and games.

We all got together at are decided venue. Discussed on the inventory for buying the required stuff. Shopped at D-mart and saved an amount 1104.50/- :) then set off to Ashalay. On reaching there, we met the person working for Ashalay. One of the first things we noticed is, all of  the kids were calling this person as daddy :) Also, there were some students of IIM  giving tutions to the kids. Since this was first time for us , for a moment it was a bit akward ,as to what do we do now or how to interact with the kids...with a bit of hesitation we started talkng to a few of them and got to know ashish , priyanaka, gauravi :) After study time, it was their lunch time. one plate was shared between each of the two kids. We sat for a while, gave them the stuff we brought (including the height measuring girrafe wall piece ;) ) looking at this giraffe scale, one of the girls asked "wo kya hai ?" to which we replied "height measure kar sakte hai usse"..she then asked innocently "uuske baad kya hoga ? ;)" hehe...hearing this we started laughing as we had no answer for her naive question :) ....

Overall it was a good first experience....we have a long way to go in terms of the ways and the extent to which we help...Nonetheless, we shall cherish this beautiful well spent day for a long long time :)

Thanks to all BWC members for contributing money and most  importantly TIME and do whatever they could to make atleast a few happy and smiling :) As quoted by a BWC member today "To be happy in life, Tie yourself to a goal" and we found ourselves one, didn't we ???

Note : If you would like to help the NGO we did , please visit http://www.raysofhopeindia.org/ashalaya.htm or if you would like to join us in this journey then please leave your details in the comment sections and someone from the BWC  will surely get back to you....Till then spread the joy :)
